DESCRIPTION

We are a dynamic IB World School for over 940 students (ages 3 to 18 – Grade 12 opening in September 2015), and 150 expert faculty and staff from over 60 countries.
At ACS Doha International School, we believe every student should be inspired and challenged to reach their full potential. We bring the philosophy and approach of our established UK schools to our Doha campus and combine them with a programme that integrates our internationalism with the vibrant local traditions, culture and history of Qatar.

Our Programme

ACS Doha International School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In addition, we hold membership in the Council for International Schools (CIS), and the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA), as well as being licensed by the Supreme Education Council (SEC) in Qatar.
We offer:

• An Early Years Foundation (EYFS) programme – ages 3 to 5

• A Global/American Lower School programme – ages 6 to 10

• The IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) – ages 11 to 15

• The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) – ages 16 to 18

• A US High School Diploma – ages 16 to 18.

Our Goal

Teachers emphasise active learning, using a student-centred approach and a variety of assessment techniques. Although our programme is challenging, we seek to provide support, including English as an Additional Language and Learning Support, to those who require it, ensuring that every child has the potential to be successful. Our goal is to equip our students to succeed at every age, attend the university of their choice anywhere in the world, and go on and live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Our strong educational approach embraces the fact that every child comes to us with his or her own hopes and aspirations.

To meet these needs we believe it is important to encourage the pursuit of academic endeavour within a caring environment that finds and focuses on each student’s specific ability and learning style.
To that end we offer:

• An Early Years Foundation (EYFS) programme – ages 3 to 5

• A Global/American Lower School programme – ages 6 to 10

• The IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) – ages 11 to 15

• The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) – ages 16 to 18

• A US High School Diploma – ages 16 to 18.

This curriculum ensures that our students will be best prepared as successful world citizens, in both their future studies and life beyond education.
We are proud of our vibrant and diverse international community, which is represented by our 940 students from more than 60 different countries. We are a truly international environment where the world comes to study and to develop a respect and affinity for the rich and varied cultures reflected in our families and staff.
It is a pleasure to welcome you to find out more about our school in this website, and invite you to visit and experience our school in person.

Through learning, inspire all to make a difference

In defining our Core Purpose we have distilled the many ideas, feelings and voices that make up our international community. 'Through learning' captures our endeavour to encourage lifelong learning in everything we do, and remain curious and motivated by the world we live in. To 'inspire all to make a difference' expresses our collective desire to see and enable achievement as a personal goal. It embodies our drive to enrich and contribute positively to the people around us, both near and far.

Our Core Values

We engage in community
We drive positive change
We promote excellence through learning
We enrich the international experience.
ACS Doha's Philosophy and Objectives

ACS Doha International School serves internationally mobile and local families who want an education with a global perspective for their children. We strive to offer a curriculum that addresses the unique intellectual, social, emotional and physical development needs of each child. We are committed to helping children grow confident in their abilities, to become healthier and happier individuals, to reach ever closer to their aspirations of who they want to be, and to live peacefully among others different from themselves.

Our aspiration is to instil a lifelong love of learning, and to prepare each student for the next stage of his or her learning journey – advancement to the next grade at our school, the move to a new school in a new country, further education or training, or the world of work – in the hope that each journey betters not only the individual, but also cultures, communities and the environments of the world for present and future generations.

ACS Doha International School has a long history of harnessing the best new technologies to differentiate the way we deliver a relevant and progressive education.
Following extensive research and a successful pilot programme at our schools, we are proud to offer a fully integrated mobile learning programme at every age.
The adoption of mobile technology empowers both students and teachers with greater access to ‘instant’ learning capabilities, both in and outside of the classroom. Immediate benefits include an increase in active teacher facilitation, as well as a significant rise in student engagement and participation. The longer-term advantages are as dynamic and as individual as the people who make up our global learning community.
The nature of learning has changed and we embrace the reality that mobile technology is at the core of a new educational experience. With iPads for Grades PK3 to 2, laptops for Grades 1 to 11, and a bring-your-own Mac laptop programme for Grades 6 to 11, we pursue excellence in areas that are relevant to a progressive education, and life in the wider world beyond. Please note that Grade 12 is opening in September 2015.
Crucially, we believe the greatest benefit of our IT strategy is that it inspires students to new thinking, while celebrating the learning skills we continue to prize most dearly – listening, reading, writing, and numeracy.
